Repentance - Action Speaks Louder Than Words

Reflection:

Demonstrate your repentance with new behaviour that proves a conscious decision to turn away from sin:

This is putting on my new self that entails making conscious decisions to not sin despite the temptations. We sin not because we love. And we love because He first loved us (! John 4:19, AMP) as demonstrated by Christ crucified (Romans 5:8). Faith is substantiated by deeds for faith without works is dead (James 2:17).  Repentance is proven by lifestyle (Revelation 3:3, AMP).

“Whatever is not from faith is sin” – Romans 14:22-23, AMP.

What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1, AMP
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

- Change your way of thinking [Ezekiel 18:30, AMP]
- Change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life [Matthew 4:17, AMP]
- Change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives [Matthew 18:1-3, AMP]
- Change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life. [Mark 1:15, AMP]
- Change your inner self – your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior – seek God’s will [Revelation 2:5, AMP]
- Change your sinful way of thinking, and demonstrate your repentance with new behaviour that proves a conscious decision to turn away from sin. [Revelation 3:3, AMP]

1 John 2:1-2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Christ Is Our Advocate

My little children (believers, dear ones), I am writing you these things so that you will not sin and violate God’s law. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate [who will intercede for us] with the Father: Jesus Christ the righteous [the upright, the just One, who conforms to the Father’s will in every way—purpose, thought, and action]. And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature—our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world.

Our default lifestyle choice is to not sin. But should we succumb to temptations every now and then, the precious blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sins, enabling us to get back on our feet yet once again!

No good thing dwells in our flesh.  The good we want to do, we do not but the evil we do not want to do, that we do.  Yet, because the precious blood of Jesus cleanses us from the all sins, we need not feel condemned when we fail.

Romans 7:21-25 Amplified Bible (AMP)

21 So I find it to be the law [of my inner self], that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully delight in the law of God in my inner self [with my new nature],(A) 23 but I see a different law and rule of action in the members of my body [in its appetites and desires], waging war against the law of my mind and subduing me and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is within my members. 24 Wretched and miserable man that I am! Who will [rescue me and] set me free from this body of death [this corrupt, mortal existence]? 25 Thanks be to God [for my deliverance] through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind serve the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh [my human nature, my worldliness, my sinful capacity—I serve] the law of sin.
