Sin is missing the mark

Reflection

To sin is to miss the mark or be separated from God.

Hence, to not sin is to be reconciled to God; to be in union with Him.

We are sinners because Adam sinned.  Adam sinned because he was deceived.  He was deceived because he did not know that God is love and hence did not trust Him.

When we do not trust someone, we have distanced ourselves from that person.

Likewise, when we do not trust God, we are separated from Him, aka sinned.

Our proximity to God is in proportion to how much we trust Him.

We trust God by taking Him at His written word as contained in the Holy Bible.

When fleeting circumstances are contradictory to His written word, that is when the rubber meets the road.

What do we do when that happens?

Do we stand by His written Word or otherwise?

Our response then is a reflection of our level of trust in Him.

Selah.

Proverbs 19:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, And he who hurries with his feet [acting impulsively and proceeding without caution or analyzing the consequences] sins (misses the mark).

John 9:24 Amplified Bible (AMP)

So a second time they called the man who had been [born] blind, and said to him, “Give God glory and praise [for your sight]! We know this Man [Jesus] is a sinner [separated from God].”

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 Amplified Bible (AMP)

18 But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him], 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but canceling them]. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation [that is, restoration to favor with God]. 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we [as Christ’s representatives] plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God.
