Jesus is THE blessing mentioned in Malachi 3:10-11. I submit the following scriptures in support:
1. John 20:30;
2. John 21:25; and
3. 2 Corinthians 1:20.
God gave each individual, whether believer or otherwise, good and perfect gifts (James 1:17). He sends rain (blessings) on both the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). It is He Who supplies seed to sow and bread to eat (2 Corinthians 9:10).
Every gift and blessing is meant for the expressed purpose of promoting the ministry of reconciliation, which is a significant aspect of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, Ephesians 2:16, Colossians 1:20-21).
As can be seen from the Old Testament scriptures, all things happened as part of God’s master blueprint for salvation. God can use even haters of the Gospel to fulfill His purpose (John 11:50, John 18:14). The end result is found in Proverbs 13:22.
God anoints and calls each one to fulfill a portion of His assignment (Romans 8:30, Ephesians 4:11-13, 2 Thessalonians 1:11, 2 Peter 1:3, 2 Peter 1:10). He has anointed some to be in the five-fold ministry. To others, He has called to financial prosperity. Ultimately, all work together as a team towards the ministry of reconciliation.
To those who have been called to the ministry of the Word, they direct all their efforts towards that end. For those who have been called to the ministry of finances, they focus on that calling.
The former will share with the latter what God has taught them and the latter will share with the former the prosperity God has given them. This is so that there may be equality (2 Corinthians 8:13-15).
The Hebrew word for tithe is מַעֲשֵׂר (Maasar).
The Hebrew word for wealth isעָשִׁיר (ashar).
The difference is in the letter מַ or “Mem”.
מַ or “Mem” is the thirteenth letter of the Kabbalistic Hebrew alphabet. It relates to creation. In the context of wealth, it brings to mind Deuteronomy 8:18; it is God Who gives the power to get wealth or God Who creates wealth.
When comparing the two Hebrew words, we can see that wealth comes from God.
Hebrew is read from right to left.
In other words, the Hebrew word for tithe can be read as Deuteronomy 8:18!
We do not tithe to get rich. We tithe because God has enriched us in and through Christ Jesus, THE blessing.
Tithing was first mentioned in Genesis 14:20. Abraham was already rich when he tithed (Genesis 13:2).
In Genesis 28:20-22, Jacob made a vow. If God blessed him, he would give a tenth (tithe) of everything that God gave him as an offering to signify his gratitude and dependence on Him. We see in Genesis 32:10 that God has indeed prospered Jacob. The point here is that Jacob tithed after God made him rich.
Tithing is required under the Law of Moses which leads to Christ Jesus. In what way does it lead to Him?
The Law is the tutor that leads to Christ (Galatians 3:24). Jesus Himself said that Moses wrote about Him (John 5:46). Jesus explained the Law according to its pristine standards. One is guilty of murder when angry and commits adultery when looking at another lustfully (Matthew 5:22, Matthew 5:28).
The apostle Paul revealed the impossibility of trying to keep the Law (Romans 7:21-23). In Romans 7:25, he demonstrated the purpose of the Law.
The sacrificial system under the Mosaic Law was a constant reminder of sins (Hebrews 10:3). Tithing under the Mosaic Law pointed to Jesus as THE blessing from God to save mankind from the penalty of sin. With that as the sure foundation of our righteousness, God can righteously pour out His blessings on us.
Today, we share the financial prosperity that God first gave us with the Church to fulfill our role of ambassador for Christ (1 Corinthians 9:9-11, 1 Corinthians 9:14, Galatians 6:6, 1 Timothy 5:18).
God loves a cheerful giver; not one who gives grudgingly or out of compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7).
The apostle Paul also advised each to give in proportion to his prosperity; how God has prospered each (1 Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 8:11).
In summary, God raised the five-fold ministry to teach us His Word that empowers us to get wealth. God anoints the former to bless us spiritually so that we might be blessed financially. We, in turn, share the financial blessings with the former who can then devote themselves fully to the ministry of the Word that will lead to even more spiritual blessings, resulting in even more financial prosperity (Acts 6:2-4). It is a blessed cycle.
In the final analysis, if you are dead broke today, read and study the word with the same diligence as you would for hidden treasures (Proverbs 2:4).
I know the grace of my Lord Jesus Christ. Although He was rich, yet for my sake He became poor, so that by His poverty He has given me the power to get wealth (2 Corinthians 8:9).
What do we say to that? AMEN! (2 Corinthians 1:20)
When the Word has prospered you financially, do not forget that it is God Who gave you the power to get wealth. Then share those material blessings with your instructor in the Word. That instructor would mean the Church. Keep that blessed cycle in motion. Amen!
Don't forget to remember me And the love that used to be I still remember you I love you In my heart lies a memory to tell the stars above Don't forget to remember me my love
