The promised Seed is referred to as The Shoot and Branch. He is a descendant of David.
Branch is netser in Hebrew.
Hebrew was written with only consonants. Netser would have appeared as NZR. Those are the same main consonants as Nazareth.
In fact, in the common language of Aramaic in Jesus’ day, the word for “Nazareth” and the Hebrew word for “branch” sounded very much alike, a wordplay of sorts.
The apostle Matthew was probably alluding to Isaiah 11 when he quoted that Jesus shall be called a Nazarene (Matthew 2:23). They were despised in the day of Jesus.
Jesus was “sprouting up” from an obscure village in Galilee.
He was the Branch predicted by the prophets and the name of the town He grew up in happens to sound just like the word for “branch.”
The above is an extract from the book entitled "Her Seed".
