Submission

This is the glaring theme screaming through Isaiah 53:7. The silence is deafening.

“He did not open His mouth”.

Jesus was silent or submitted Himself to the will of God when He was:
1. Scourged, punched, spat on, and humiliated (Matthew 20:19; 27:29; 31; 41, Mark 10:34; 15:16-20; 31, Luke 16:14; 18:32; 22:63; 23:11; 35-36, John 19:1);
2. Before the High Priest (Matthew 26:63, Mark 14:61); and
3. Before Pilate (Matthew 27:12-14, Luke 23:9, John 19:9).

It was a demonstration of His quiet confidence in God Who promised for He is faithful (1 Corinthians 1:9, Hebrews 10:23).

 It speaks of the absolute obedience of Christ to do the will of God the Father and His complete trust in Him for deliverance (Matthew 26:39; 53, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42, Hebrews 10:5-7).

We are to be obedient to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5, Philippians 2:8).
