Siloam
means “Sent” which points to Jesus, the Sent One (John 3:34).
The pool contained water which refers to the Word (Ephesians
5:26).
The blind man was sent to wash his eyes in the Sent One, Jesus,
Who is Himself the Word (John 1:1).
The Word that Jesus brought was the Good News of peace.
To be able to see tantamount to opening the eyes to the
deceit of Satan. We have been blinded by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:4).
It was our minds that have been blinded rather than the
physical eyes and therein the need for repentance; the “unblinding” of the
blinded mind.
It is the good news of God reconciling the world to Himself,
not counting their trespasses against them.
In other words, the forgiveness of sin (2 Corinthians 5:18-20,
Colossians 1:20). This forgiveness of
sin extends to the Gentiles as well (Ephesians 2:13-21).
