If there was no resurrection, our faith would be in vain (1 Corinthians 15:12-19).

Jesus’ resurrection from the dead represented the completion of our sentence for the crime of sin. Jesus came a long way to the scene of crime so as to fully serve the crime of sin. It was by His resurrection that we have been set free (John 8:36).

Jesus Himself came to satisfy justice by serving out the penalty for our sins (Matthew 20:28, Mark 10:45). He wiped out the charges against us on the Cross (Colossians 2:14, Ephesians 2:15).

The requirements found in the Mosaic Law were violated. The debt was the punishment due for the violator’s sins. Gentiles were never directly liable to the Law, but as the apostle Paul explained in Romans 2:12-16, God held them responsible for violating the principles of the Law that they acknowledged of their own volition.

The Law is like a charge sheet that simply shows the offence committed.

For example, you were happily driving at 80km/h until the traffic police caught up with you to inform that the speed limit was 60km/h. But you were not aware that it was unlawful to drive at 80km/h until the law shows you up.

You have broken the law. You either pay the fine or go to jail. But you have neither the money nor do you want to be imprisoned. Nonetheless, justice demands that you pay!

Your will to speed not in future, that is good behaviour, would never exonerate you from the penalty of the crime you have already committed.

Just when you were feeling helpless, someone came along and offered to take the blame for you. This is the same spiritually speaking and that someone is Jesus.

Jesus paid in full the penalty for the crime we have committed through Adam. We are now free from the demands of justice because He fully met those righteous demands.

Jesus paid the fine and was also imprisoned. He was an overpayment! Now that He has been released from prison, nobody has any claim against you!

Solid boh?

The word “boh” is Singlish for “or not”. Solid is used to describe something or someone as being very impressive.

Therefore, the phrase “solid boh” would mean “Impressive or not?”

We were supposed to serve the sentence of death. But Jesus served that sentence and was resurrected from the dead to walk free. It means we are free too! But we need to receive it.

That is the significance of His resurrection.
