The Law Condemns!

The power of sin is the Law; which is the ministry of death that condemns (2 Corinthians 3:6-7).

I would like to see the Law as a diagnosis of how sickly a person is.   The Law condemns. Just like a bad medical report. Condemnation carries a sense of shame, rejection, worthlessness, and hopelessness.

Just take a look at what it did to Judas Iscariot (Matthew 27:1-10, Acts 1:16-19). The Law is like an unyielding and extremely strict disciplinarian who catches and highlights our every mistake (Romans 7:12, Galatians 3:24-29, James 2:10-13, 1 Timothy 1:8).

It will come to a breaking point when we become so stifled and suffocated by it.

“I can’t breathe!” It is either I give up or I shout for help.
Grace, the gift of free pardon, on the other hand, is given so that we will not be afraid of making mistakes in this journey of love and growth with and by God (1 Corinthians 3:6-9).

It is like God knows that we would need time to wise up, learn and grow (2 Corinthians 2:11,1 Peter 5:7-8).   It is liberating and loving but yet corrective (Proverbs 3:12, Hebrews 12:6-11).

It is precisely because God loves that He corrects (Hebrews 12:7-10).   We let not Satan outsmart us by following the advice of the smarter One (2 Corinthians 2:11, New Living Translation).

And His advice is in the written Word.
