The Principle of Representation and Identification

An Extract

This is an extract from the Book entitled “Her Seed – The amazing love of the extraordinary Father”.

The Principle of Representation & Identification

God works by the principle of representation and identification (Romans 11:16).   Both Adam and Jesus are the representatives of mankind (Romans 5:14, 1 Corinthians 15:22). They are the Federal Heads.

In the Old Testament days, the High Priest represented the entire nation of Israel.  If the sacrifice offered by the High priest was accepted, that year for the nation would be blessed and the reverse was true.

In Judaism, the High priest (Hebrew kohen gadol) was the chief religious functionary in the Temple of Jerusalem.  He had the unique privilege of entering the Holy of Holies (inner sanctum) once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to burn incense and sprinkle sacrificial animal blood to expiate his own sins and those of the people of Israel. The High Priest could not mourn the dead, had to avoid defilement incurred by proximity to the dead, and could marry only a virgin.

Virginity.

I love this sermon by the pastor of grace on this subject.  When under peer pressure to surrender that virtue before marriage, respond in this way:   “For me to be like you, all it takes is one night.  But for you to be like me, NEVER!”   That’s cool!

It is recorded that Levi paid tithes to Melchizedek even though he was not yet born. Abraham was the representative head of his descendants. Therefore, Levi paid tithes while still in Abraham's loins; in liquid form!

The phrase “pai sey” is from the Hokkien dialect.  It carries the connotations of embarrassment.   God honors the tithe (Malachi 3:10-11). The focus is on the covenant-keeping God.   The Jews are still benefitting from the tithes of their ancestors and the Gentiles are indirect beneficiaries.

Did you know that the Google search engine was created by two Jewish gentlemen, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin?  This is not to mention that the co-founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, is also a Jew.

 These are but two of the many examples of Jewish inventions and discoveries that have impacted the world. You may want to google it to find out more.

Grab a copy of this book to have a firm understanding of this principle and be established in the righteousness that Christ Jesus had died to give us.

Unwrap the Gift

If you have not received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, I invite you to make this confession:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself.   Today, I receive your gift of salvation.   I trust you as my personal Lord and Savior.   I believe you are the Son of God Who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day to acquit me from all charges.   Thank you for paying my sin debt and satisfying the demands of justice with Your Precious Blood.   In You, I now stand as the righteousness of God, meeting all His standards. Amen!”

Right this very moment, all of heaven rejoices over you (Luke 15:4-7; 22-24).

When the Lord has set you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36)!

Welcome to the big family of loving Daddy God!

This is as good as admitting that I have been deceived and led astray. I can’t tell the truth from a lie. Lord Jesus, You have come as a Man to show me what it is like to trust God even with Your life.  Teach and lead me back onto the right path (Isaiah 53:6, Proverbs 8:5).

Grace

I am thankful for the grace of God that is upon this nation.

I am a Singaporean.

In Singapore, we celebrate and embrace our diversity of backgrounds, languages, and beliefs.

I have peppered this book with some seasoning of Singlish and added a dash of the Singaporean culture. If you like Singaporean cuisine, this will serve as an added attraction. You will also get to learn some Singlish, Malay, Hokkien, Cantonese, and Mandarin along the way. If I speak Tamil, I would have definitely included more of it. வணக்கம் Vaṇakkam (Hello).

Song lyrics that are deemed appropriate to the respective portions of this book have also been included. The titles of the songs are appended accordingly and you can YouTube it.

Staying true to the belief that a picture speaks a thousand words, graphics have also been included in the unfolding pages. They serve to provide some comic relief.

In summary, this book will appeal to your eyes, ears, heart, mind, and most importantly, your soul.    Okay. All set liao.   Hope you will find this book shiok.

The general meaning of the word "liao" can be roughly interpreted as "already."

The word “shiok” means very enjoyable or pleasing (used as a term of general approval). Singlish wan shui!

Long live Singlish!    Singlish wan shui! 万岁! Long live Singlish!

Exciting Plot

As you immerse in the scriptures presented in this book, you will be drawn into an exciting and intriguing plot interwoven in fabrics of evil, mystery, murder, victory, love and much more. It is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Brace yourself for an exciting time in the word! Get to see Jesus hidden in the Old Testament and have a taste of the Emmaus experience.

Witness for yourself the salvation plan of God from before antiquity to the present Church Age that we live in. Marvel at the profound wisdom of the triune God as He obscured the identity of the promised Seed from the frustrated master villain, who played the “hide-and-seek” game over thousands of years.

The Haman versus Mordecai saga in the Book of Esther was a foreshadowing of Satan’s humiliating defeat (Esther 7:10). Satan knew that the promised Seed would come from the Jews but he did not know who exactly. This probably explains the disproportionate hatred towards the Jews in general. He tried to kill the promised Seed by attempting to exterminate the entire Jewish race. However, God worked behind the scene to thwart Satan’s sinister attempt and turned the table against him. It was a demonstration of God’s signature move; beating Satan at his own game! The Jews were eventually saved from complete decimation. Today, this significant victory is celebrated as the Festival of Purim in Israel.

This is just an appetizer before the main course. So, tighten your spiritual seat belt and dive right into this exhilarating ride through the passage of time as we unravel one of the greatest biblical mysteries since time immemorial.

Objective

The sole objective of this book is to attempt to make you salivate for the Word of God.   This is motivated by 1 Peter 2:2-3.

We will follow the lead of the foundation and reference scriptures all the way through to the New Testament. In the course of this journey, we will be making many interesting observations from scriptures.

For example:
1. God’s signature move;
2. The crime Adam committed;
3. The identity of the missing man in the account of the adulterous woman brought before Jesus.
4. The principle of representation and identification;
5. The significance of the bruising of the serpent’s head and the heel of the Seed;
6. The many attempts by Satan to exterminate the promised Seed;
7. How Chinese martial arts is akin to the concept of cornerstone;
8. How God served poetic justice on Satan;
9. How it is all about Jesus’ faith in and obedience to God and not ours;
10. How Jabez and Joseph were types of Jesus;
11. How low a level God the Son condescended as Jesus the Man;
12. How the Bible interprets the Bible;
13. How the Hokkien phrase “Mai Tu lee yell”, encapsulates the meaning of Ephesians 5:16;
14. How the righteous of God are beneficiaries of a recession.

 These are just some examples of the many observations that we will be making in this book.
